Robert McCormick

Age 88, passed away on Thurs. June 19, 2025 following declining health. Born on June 6, 1937 in Binghamton; son of the late, Claude and Emma Benjamin McCormick. In service to his country, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1962. He married his best friend and companion, Patricia Wood in 1985. They shared 35 years of marriage together until her passing on March 25, 2020. Robert retired from Moore Business Forms in Elmira after many years of dedicated service. He was also employed at Holding Point and the Elmira City School District. An outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting and loving nature. Surviving are his loving children, Randy McCormick, Gonia McCormick, Michael Wood, Vicki (Fred) Beardsley; brothers, Larry McCormick and Thomas McCormick; sisters, Carol Gaitings and Marijane Chaffe; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step- grandchildren, including his special granddaughter, Kara Ellis who was there for him in so many ways; and his beloved pets, Teddy and Toby. In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was predeceased by step-son; Howard James Wood Jr.; three brothers, Alan, Donald, and William McCormick; sisters, Elizabeth Palmer and Elaine Campbell. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway Elmira/Southport, NY 14904 on Tues. June 24, 2025. From 12 (noon) - 2 p.m. Burial will take place privately in Woodlawn National Cemetery with military honors accorded.
