Robert K. "Bob" McCraney, of Laurens and husband of Barbara Prince McCraney, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Prisma Healthcare Laurens Hospital.
Born in Enoree, SC, he was the son of the late Charles D. & Ethel Varner McCraney.
Bob attended Woodruff High School, Spartanburg Methodist College and Clemson University. He retired as the Employment Manager at the Timken Company (Torrington).
Bob was a member of First Baptist Church of Laurens, where he served on the personnel committee & served as an usher & greeter. He was a member of Palmetto Masonic Lodge #19 of Laurens, was formerly chairman of the Laurens County Governor's Workforce Excellence Program, a member of the board of directors of The United Way of Laurens County, and a former member of the board of directors of Torrco Employees Federal Credit Union. Bob was also a former member of the board of directors of The Laurens County Literacy Council, a member of Piedmont Technical College Industrial Advisory Committee, and a member of the board of visitors at Piedmont Technical College and Self Memorial Hospital. He was also a former member of the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Bob is survived by his sons, Charles Paul McCraney (Sherri) of Charlotte, NC, and Robert Kevin McCraney of Waterloo, SC; and granddaughters, Reagan McCraney St. Onge (Nathan) of Laurens, SC, and Lauren McCraney, of Greenville, SC.
Bob was predeceased by his youngest son, Michael Eric McCraney of Charleston, SC.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 13, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Laurens, SC, conducted by Rev. Tim Marsh.
The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:00 pm prior to the service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Music Ministries, 300 West Main Street, Laurens, SC 29360.
