Robert Ormand McDonie

Robert Ormand McDonie of Waverly left this life on February 2nd, 2026, at 6:18pm. He left peacefully surrounded by his family. Robert was born on January 9, 1951, in Ironton, Ohio to the late William O. & Mae McDonie. On April 16, 1976, he was united in marriage to Ruth Evelyn (Ferguson) McDonie, who survives along with five sons, Wesley Owen (Johnna) McDonie of Waverly, Ohio, Daniel Corey (Darbie) McDonie of Lewisville, Texas, Robert Joseph McDonie of Carrollton, Ohio, Charles Edward (Andrea) McDonie of Circleville, Ohio, and Samuel Adam (Shayna) McDonie of Frankfort, Ohio. Also, grandchildren Cora Danielle, Tennyson Layne, Owen Riley, William Joseph, Charles Augustus, Wallace David, Ian James, Matthew Rory, Ezra Lee, Haven Lily, Eliza Mae, and Declan Blaine. Also surviving are 3 brothers, Albert (Arlene) McDonie, David (Susan) McDonie & Rick (Cindy) McDonie; 2 sisters, Karen Bailey & Sharon (Bobby) Fuhr; sister-in-law Freda McDonie; and brother-in-law Kenny Gullett.

Robert was preceded by his parents; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Fred & Eliza Ferguson; brother William Joseph McDonie; sister Joyce Ann Gullett; brothers-in-law Jerry Bailey, Tom Kuehne & Ronnie Mollette; sister-in-law Kay Ferguson; nephews Adam Kuehne & Jacob Ferguson; niece Mary Beth Cobbler; great-nephew Nicholas Kuehne; and grandchildren born sleeping.

Robert was a jack of all trades & loved being a carpenter for over 20 years doing jobs all over Ohio. He was always eager to show off his completed work when traveling in those areas. After leaving the carpentry trade, he spent several years at the Mead Paper plant in Chillicothe.

During the years, he was an avid collector of American pottery, especially Ohio pottery. He also had a love of coin collecting. He loved the outdoors just walking in the woods. In younger years he was an avid deer hunter with some of his sons, brothers & nephews.

Robert was a Christian & instilled his Christian faith & moral values in his children and grandchildren.

His greatest pride & joy in this life was his family- his wife, children & grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all of them along with his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunt Janet & friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2026, at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio. Burial will follow at Evergreen Union Cemetery, Denver Road.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly and on February 9th at 10am until the funeral at 11:00 a.m.
