Robert D. McDougal, age 77, of Dayton, passed away January 2, 2026. Robert was born in Caribou, Maine on May 24, 1948 to the late Haze and Shirley McDougal.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; third wife, Penny McDougal; granddaughter, Ellen McDougal; brother-in-laws, Ronald Soucier and Kenneth Bates; as well as his nephew, Haze A. "Buddy" McDougal IV.
He is survived by daughters, Wendy (Darrin Faul) Soto and Julie (Brent) Beaver; son, Robert (Jennifer) McDougal, Jr; grandchildren, Christopher, Samantha, Aidan, Maeve, Mia, Reese, Madison and Lennon; great-grandchildren, Elam, Emmett, Aurora and Ares; brothers, Haze A. McDougal III and John McDougal; sisters, Kathleen Soucier, Debra McDougal-Bates, Ellen Bisson and Donna McDougal; first wife, Louise Bell; as well as his second wife, Patricia.
Robert grew up in Maine and joined the military when he was 18. He initially joined the Marines where he served in Vietnam. Robert then joined the Air Force which he retired from on November 21, 1996.
In his free time, he enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting and sports-betting. Robert was a loving, generous and kind father. He will be deeply missed by his children.
Visitation will be held from 9:00am-10:30am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek). Robert will be laid to rest with military honors at Dayton National Cemetery following the visitation.
