Robert Paul McHale
"Beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle"
Robert Paul McHale, 88, passed away peacefully at his home following a long illness, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Anne (George) McHale for fifty-five years.
Robert was born in Pittston, PA, on June 27, 1936, a son of the late Frank and Gertrude (Dougher) McHale. He was a graduate of Wilby High School Class of 1954, where he excelled as a star player for the Wilby Wildcats Varsity Basketball Team. Robert attended UCONN Waterbury, acquiring his associate's degree in accounting. Robert served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was also an Army reservist for many years.
He worked for Century Brass, formerly Scovill, in operations, escalating to management, for nearly 40 years. Robert was a professional photographer by trade, owning and operating McHale Photography & Design, working throughout Connecticut for weddings and special events, and was a member of the Professional Photography Association. Robert was an active member of the community, loved gardening, was very proud of growing his tomato plants, and enjoyed making his spaghetti sauce. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching both the men's and women's UCONN Basketball teams play.
Besides his wife, Anne, Robert leaves behind his four children: Sheri Gilchrist and her husband, Gary, of Easton, CT; Robert McHale, Esq., and his partner, Eric, of Boston, MA; Cynthia Murphy, PhD, and her husband, Bill, of Shrewsbury, MA; and Kristina Taksen and her husband, David, of Hopkinton, MA. He also leaves behind his four loving grandchildren, Justin McHale, Theodore Hendricks, Noah Taksen, and Phinneas Taksen, his step grandchildren, Spencer & Tyler, and a sister-in-law, Angela McHale. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis McHale.
Arrangements: A memorial service with the cremains present will be held at 12:00 p.m., January 18, 2025, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT, followed by full military honors for Robert outside of the funeral home.
