Robert Alan McKinnon, 81, of Houston, TX passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024. He was born in Boston, MA to Elvin and Victorian McKinnon on July 11, 1942. He then went on to attend Boston University where he graduated cum laude with a degree in Public Communication, Broadcasting and Film. Rob worked in the film industry as a director and producer for many years. Rob also worked as a Sheriff with the Harris County Sheriff's Department for several years but eventually went back to his true passion: film. Rob was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother, Leona McKinnon. He is survived by his wife, Jolene Wright McKinnon and step-daughters, Charlotte Norambuena, Julia Browning, and Laurie Ware, and their families. A service will be held privately for the family.

Condolences to Bob´s family. We were college classmates and worked together on a number of film and tv projects at BU. He was super talented and a super guy. We were also extras in the movie, The Out of Towners, thanks to Bob´s AFTRA membership. He dragged me along and they paid me scale. A big deal for a college kid. Safe travels, my friend. Rob (and wife Jolene) were my radio partners during the 90's in Houston. Rob was very talented in music, broadcasting and media production. I respected Rob and his wife to the highest degree. Rob was a wonderful man, and while I mourn the loss, I celebrate his new life in Heaven. May God bless his wife, Jolene.
