Robert M. McLaughlin, affectionately known as Bob by his family and friends, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at the age of 63 in Prospect Park, PA. Born on December 4, 1961, in Ridley Park, PA, Bob was a man whose life was characterized by dedication, warmth, and a selfless spirit that touched everyone he met.
Bob proudly served his country as a Radioman in the United States Navy Reserve for six years, a time during which he honed his skills in communication and developed a strong sense of discipline. After his service, he embarked on a distinguished 39-year career at FedEx, where he was not only a dedicated employee but also a beloved colleague. His work ethic and friendly demeanor made him a fixture in the company and in the community.
A man of many interests, Bob was an avid sports enthusiast. His love for golf, racquetball, swimming, biking, basketball, and skiing was only matched by his passion for coaching. He poured his heart into coaching football, basketball, and lacrosse, inspiring young athletes with his wisdom and commitment to teamwork. Bob's influence on the field was profound, and the values he instilled in his players will be carried with them for a lifetime.
Bob's life was a living example of the words wise, friendly, and selfless. He was the kind of person who would offer his help without being asked and who always had a kind word and a smile for those around him. His wisdom was a guiding light for many, and his friendly nature made him a cherished friend and confidant.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Philip McLaughlin, mother, Elaine McLaughlin, stepmother, Marylee McLaughlin, and sister, Linda Thompson. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his family, especially his dear wife Kathryn 'Kitty" (nee Kealey) McLaughlin, his brothers Philip McLaughlin (Jean) and Richard McLaughlin (Kathy). His sisters Debbie Smith (Craig) and Cindy Notorfrancesco. His beloved sons Bobby McLaughlin, Jr., Tyler McLaughlin (Melissa), Brett McLaughlin, and his adored grandson Brayden McLaughlin.
Robert M. McLaughlin's journey through life was marked by his courageous battle with cancer, a battle he faced with the same resilience and strength that characterized his entire life. His unwavering courage in the face of adversity was a testament to his character and an inspiration to all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Bob, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the joy of giving.
