Robert McLean Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Clawson on Mar. 30, 2026.
Robert "Bob" William McLean, passed away on March 28, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born December 8, 1946, to Joseph and Eleanor McLean, Bob was raised in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was the third born of six children. He was a 1965 graduate of St. Mary High School.

Bob and Jane (Whale) Wroubel were married and raised two daughters in Birmingham, Michigan. Though they later divorced, they remained close throughout their lives. Bob was the father of Elizabeth (Randall) Lucier and the late Amy Calder; he also held a special place in his heart for Amy's husband, Mac, and his wife, Kate, and honorary grandkids, Bodie and Callum.

He was a proud grandfather of Maxwell and Macey Lucier, as well as Griffin, Fletcher and Ewan Calder. Some of his fondest memories were playing "Monster" with all five grandchildren in Traverse City. Bob loved nothing more than chasing the kids until their screams turned into pure, infectious joy for everyone involved. Bob also loved making phone calls. He always kicked things off with his signature, "So, what's new?" and then during the call would ask how everyone was-from his grandkids and the grand-dogs to siblings and friends.

Bob cherished his time in Traverse City, whether he was watching the Blue Angels from Amy's house or enjoying boat rides on Torch Lake. Bob also had a love for junk food. He will be fondly remembered for his stash of chocolate Tootsie Pops, Lays Chips, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and Coke.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Beth, sons-in-law, Randy Lucier and Mac Calder, former wife, Jane Wroubel, his sister, Janet Bonacci, his brothers, Dan, Ron (Sandy) and Mickey (Mary Lou). He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bill Mueller, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Amy, sister, Mary, brother-in-law, Tony and sister-in-law, Mary Helen.

In his final years, Bob was a cherished resident of Silverbell Manor in Lake Orion, Michigan. His family extends their deepest gratitude to the many wonderful caregivers who became like family to him, with a very special thank you to Abby and Bre for their exceptional kindness and devotion.

We find comfort in knowing that Bob is at peace, likely enjoying a Tootsie Pop and a Coke while catching up with those who went before him. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends that he loved.

A Sharing of Memories will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 1368 North Crooks Road, (between 14 & 15 Mile Road), in Clawson, Michigan, on Saturday, April 4, at 3pm. Friends may visit on Saturday beginning at 12pm.

Reception to follow.

Bob will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.

To honor the care Bob received from St. Croix Hospice and his lifelong love for dogs, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Support Foundation or the Michigan Humane Society.
