Robert Alton Merrell 94, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Robert was born in Rio Hondo, Texas on December 17, 1928, to Robert William Merrell and Rebecca Katheryn Bishop.
Robert graduated Rio Hondo High School and attended college at Milwaukee School of Engineering. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a Private First-Class during World War II and retired from Zenith as a Surface Mount Technician after 12 years. Robert enjoyed inventing things and tinkering with computer programs and languages.
Preceded in death by his parents Robert W. & Kathryn Bishop Merrell, brother albert W. Merrell, Sisters: Doris L. Merrell, and Anna Mae Merrell, son Albert D. Merrell, daughters: Sandra Merrell and Linda S. Merrell Oliver.
Robert is survived by his wife Candelaria Daysi Merrell, sons: Robert (Lynn) Merrell, Lee S. (Rachel) Merrell, and Ariel (Celia) Merrell; stepchildren: Xiomara (Mario) Fernandez, Adela Juarez, and Thelma “Chila” Merrell. 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, his brothers: George D. Merrell and Donald R. (Diane) Merrell.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and continue Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life service starting at 2:00 p.m... Services will be held at Los Fresnos Funeral Home, 1005 S. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas.
