After his honorable discharge on January 3, 1954, Robert served for six years in the Reserves until January 3, 1960. Faith was the cornerstone of Robert's life and he served in many roles throughout his lifetime. While he was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Robert was a deacon and elder. He later joined St. John's United Church of Christ where he served as president, trustee, cemetery board member, and officer and member of the Men's Brotherhood of United Church of Christ. From 1986-1996, both Bob and Arlene worked for Buena Vista County as Roadside Weed Management for a past time. His passion for farming surpassed his retirement in 2005 and he continued to enjoy watching the crops grow every year. Robert and Arlene enjoyed polka dancing. More than anything, Robert treasured time with his family and his housecat, Cutie. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
