Robert G. Meseck, age 95, of Storm Lake, Iowa died August 30, 2025 at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake. Memorial services will take place Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the St. John United Church Cemetery in rural Newell. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the CHURCH. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Robert G. Meseck was born June 3, 1930, the son of Paul and Helen (Gustafson) Meseck in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was baptized as an infant at St. John's Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Growing up, Robert attended Grant #4 Country School through the eighth grade in Storm Lake. In 1948, he graduated from Truesdale High School in Truesdale. Robert was a talented vocalist. He sang solos and was a member of a mixed septet and men's quartet in high school. On March 21, 1952, Robert was united in marriage to Arlene Thoma at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with two children: Gary and Kristine. Robert entered the United States Marine Corps on January 3, 1952, and served during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at the Marine Corps Recruiter Depot in San Diego, California, Bakers School at Camp Lejeuene, North Carolina, 2nd Marine Air Wing at Cherry Point, North Carolina, and Maneuver-Roosevelt Roads at Puerto Rico. After his honorable discharge on January 3, 1954, Robert served for six years in the Reserves until January 3, 1960. Faith was the cornerstone of Robert's life and he served in many roles throughout his lifetime. While he was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Robert was a deacon and elder. He later joined St. John's United Church of Christ where he served as president, trustee, cemetery board member, and officer and member of the Men's Brotherhood of United Church of Christ. He also served as a soloist for the church. After St. John's United Church of Christ closed, Robert attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Newell. Robert was a member of Albert City Thresherman and Collector's Show, American Legion Post 0193 in Newell, and Newell Veteran's Memorial Committee. From 1986-1996, both Bob and Arlene worked for Buena Vista County as Roadside Weed Management for a past time. His passion for farming surpassed his retirement in 2005 and he continued to enjoy watching the crops grow every year. Robert and Arlene enjoyed polka dancing. More than anything, Robert treasured time with his family and his housecat, Cutie. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Robert is survived by his children: Gary (Carol) Meseck of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Kristine (Mike) Wester of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly; lifetime friend: Lloyd Bumann of Storm Lake, Iowa; extended family and friends. Greeting him in heaven are his parents, Paul and Helen Meseck, and beloved wife of 65 years, Arlene Meseck.
