Robert J. "Bob" Messina

MESSINA

It is with profound sadness that Robert "Bob" J. Messina, age 79, of Newtown Square, PA passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Born on November 15, 1946, in Philadelphia to Rosamund (nee Bisciotti) and Leonard Messina, Bob was raised in Yeadon with his younger sister Rosemary. Bob attended St. Louis School and graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1964. He then went on to graduate from Widener University with a degree in Economics.

After graduation, Bob joined the family business and became partner at Guarrera's Butcher Shop in South Philadelphia. For over 50 years, Guarrera's proudly served premium meat to top- tier restaurants throughout Philadelphia and to the close-knit Buena Vista neighborhood. After leaving Guarrera's, he worked for Acme Markets.

A true animal lover, Bob, found his greatest joy walking the scenic trails of Okehocking Preserve with Leo, his adored Black Labrador Retriever. He also loved spending his summers in Margate, New Jersey with his family. Bob was a loving husband and devoted father who will be deeply missed by everyone know knew him.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jeanne (nee Patrick) Messina, his children Robert L. and Noelle Messina, his sister, Rosemary Gunter, and by many cherished family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, March 7th, from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 2400 N Providence Rd, Media, PA 19063. Interment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
