It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Francis Meyer. Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 18th, 1940. He went home on January 11th, 2026. He is survived by his wife Ellen Meyer, his son John Meyer, his daughter Kathryn Meyer, his grandson Erik Meyer, daughter in law Michele Meyer, along with her brothers Steve Gradisnik and Jerry Gradisnik.
Bob was a highly spiritual man; he was a brother in the Catholic seminary. He sang in the choir as a tenor - commanding a beautiful and powerful voice. After completing his education in seminary school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsman during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Navy, Bob was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He married Ellen during his time in the Navy, and after his years of service, Bob and Ellen had a beautiful family with two children - and, of course - a dog.
He was a compassionate man who always had the time for heart to heart conversations, bringing comfort and respite whenever his family needed him. The most wonderful breakfasts were curated by Bob to start the day; breakfasts which remain staples within the Meyer family to this day.
Where Bob walked, nature flourished; he dedicated care and persistence to his gardens, which continue to blossom after decades. A father and eventually a grandfather, he was a kind and wonderful man who loved his family immensely. Throughout his life, Bob devoted himself to helping others and took gratitude in doing so - loving both man and nature alike.
Bob is missed greatly by his family and all the hearts he touched along the course of his life.
