Robert "Bob" Glen Michael, 69, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away at his home on
July 5, 2025.
Bob was born on January 17, 1956, to Denzil and Virginia (Lovell) Michael. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1974.
Bob spent his career in the automobile and trucking industry, retiring as Vice President of Operations at Brown National Lease in Urbandale, Iowa, after 34 years of dedicated service.
On July 27, 2002, he married Kelly Carr at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Bob raced go carts, was a gun enthusiast and followed Nascar faithfully. Bob had a need for speed, modifying anything with a motor, from building a motorized bar stool to removing the governor off his Dale Earnhardt, Jr golf cart. He believed everything should go just a little bit faster.
Bob spent several decades at the lake of the Ozarks racing his Profile boat in the main channel and in the Shooter's 21 annual shootout and won his class.
The last 13 years were spent in Daytona Beach, Fl with his dog Chase, who went everywhere with him. This was the perfect environment to ride his Harley and be with his family and friends.
More than anything, Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren, attending Mollie's horse shows or Aaron's Karate classes. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Papa, Brother and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Ray Carr.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kelly; his daughter, Christina (Mike) Myer of Norwalk, IA; stepdaughter, Denali Samuelson of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Mollie and Aaron; brother, James Michael of Windsor Heights, IA; sister, Jane (Chuck) Noble of Pleasantville, IA; and mother-in-law, Sandra Carr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Iles Dunn's Chapel in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Midwest or ARL.
