Robert E. "Bob" Mikkelson

Robert E. "Bob" Mikkelson, 86, of Watseka passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. He was born on December 3, 1938 in Kankakee, a son of Edward and Anna-Mae (Anderson) Mikkelson. Bob married Carol Ann Prue on August 21, 1965 in Bradley and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2012.

Bob is survived by one son, Douglas (Leah) Mikkelson of Crystal Lake, IL; one daughter, Deborah (Timothy) Stone of Beecher, IL; five grandchildren, Zachary (Ashton) Mikkelson, Skyler Duran, Shai Wallace (Marshal Younger), Katie Mikkelson, and Wilbur Mikkelson; one great- grandchild, Raelynn Ann Younger.

Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by both of his parents; one brother, Don Mikkelson; two sisters; Lois Plummer and Shirley Buell; and one infant daughter, Teresa Mikkelson.

Bob loved canoeing, fishing, and gardening. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. After his time in the Army, he was employed by the Kankakee County Police Force. Later he went to work at General Foods as a maintenance tech, where he worked until he retired.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka with Joe Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery near Watseka with Graveside Military Rites by the Watseka American Legion Post 23.
