Dr. Robert Edwin Miles

Born on July 11, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Robert was the son of Robert Lewis Miles and Genevieve Strack. He was raised in Oklahoma and carried with him throughout his life a deep sense of purpose, compassion, and dedication to helping others.

Robert earned his Bachelor of Arts and a Master's degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. He later completed both a Master's degree and Ph.D. in clinical psychology in California.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Robert served as:

Clinical psychologist at Rader Juvenile Detention Center

Founder of Therapeutic Interventions, serving group homes across Oklahoma

Director of Mental Health for the State of Florida under Governor Jeb Bush

Executive Director of NTBHA in North Texas

Director of Psychology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and John Peter Smith Hospital

Allied Pilots Association, serving pilots at American Airlines until 2024

Robert married Susan Miles in 1996, beginning a partnership filled with love, cats, and unwavering support. He is survived by his wife, Susan Miles; his children, Zachary Miles and Kourtney Kane.

Robert was caring, empathetic, full of life, and a bit mischievous. He had a passion for flying, airplanes, playing the guitar, playing with trains, reading, and riding motorcycles. Whether in his professional life or personal pursuits, he approached everything with enthusiasm, heart, and an unwavering commitment to do the right thing, even when it was difficult.

A service celebrating Robert's life will be held on February 20, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Maple Landing in Dallas, Texas.

He leaves behind a legacy of deep compassion for those around him. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
