Jack Hough Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by YANDA & SON FUNERAL HOME - YUKON on Feb. 12, 2026.
Jack Van Doren Hough, Jr., Ph.D., 79, entered into the presence of the Lord on February 11, 2026, having faithfully completed the work God set before him. He was born July 18, 1946 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Jack Van Doren Hough and Jodie Ingle Hough. Jack "Van" accepted Christ in 1956 at the Billy Graham Crusade in Oklahoma City. Studying the Bible and memorizing Scripture verses became an integral part of Van's daily life. His love for God was expressed in his love, concern, and care for others throughout the world for his entire life. Van loved to travel and this love took him around the world twice. He loved horses, and he and his father managed, trained, and bred over 100 Arabian horses at the family ranch. Van earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, a master's degree in Public Administration and a doctorate in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma, and he served as an adjunct professor at numerous colleges in the Oklahoma City area. Van had a passion for introducing young people from other countries to Christian values and principles. To this end he was active in numerous organizations placing many foreign exchange students in Christian homes here in America. He also served faithfully on the Missions Committee at Covenant Community Church. Van was the founder of Grants, Research, and Development, Inc., a company which provided funding for both secular and religious organizations worldwide. He had a God-given vision for Christian education. He loved children and was the founder of Southwest Covenant School, a prominent private Christian school in Yukon, Oklahoma. He served as its Headmaster for thirteen years, providing a Christian education to hundreds of children. Above all, Van was a devoted husband and father. He loved his wife Donna and his children and grandchildren beyond measure. He faithfully led his family with humility, prayer, and integrity. Simply put, Van was a gracious and kind man who loved God and people. Van is survived by his wife Donna Kaye Hough, to whom he was married for over 50 years; daughters Jaime and Julia Hough; son Jack Hough and wife Amy, and three grandsons Colton, Levi, and Tucker; brothers, Ted, Tim and David (wife Laura) Hough; brother-in-law Richard Williams; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Yukon Cemetery in Yukon, OK. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Covenant Community Church in Yukon, OK.
