Robert Daniel Mills, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 12, 2026. He was born at home on August 20, 1946, at his family's house on Vancouver Street in
Medford, Oregon, to Linn Edward Mills and Maureen McCullough.
Bob grew up in Medford and graduated from Medford High School in 1964. He continued his education at Southern Oregon College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and a Master's degree, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning.
Early in his teaching career, Bob taught fifth and sixth graders at an Indian reservation in Skokomish, Washington, from 1968 to 1971.
Bob later transitioned into the insurance industry, building a successful and respected career as an insurance agent from 1982 until his retirement in 2012. He worked with several companies, including Mutual of Omaha, Allstate, and Penn Life, and took great pride in the relationships he built with clients. His success earned him many travel opportunities, including trips to Maui, the Big Island, Cabo San Lucas, San Diego, Puerto Vallarta, Disney World in Florida, Vancouver, British Columbia, and San Francisco-always traveling first class.
A lifelong runner, Bob proudly ran in every Pear Blossom 10-Mile Run since its inception in 1977. He completed his final race in 2018 at the age of 71, a remarkable personal achievement.
On June 20, 1977, Bob married the love of his life, Anna Marie Mills, in Owatonna, Minnesota, at St. Joseph Church. Together they built a loving family through the adoption of their children, Jennifer and Greg-an accomplishment Bob held especially close to his heart. He cherished family time, holidays such as Christmas in Minnesota, and watching his children grow.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob loved hunting, fishing, camping, and floating the river. He especially enjoyed hunting trips to Canada and salmon fishing on the Upper Rogue River. His favorite place was in nature, particularly the upper Applegate area near the North Fork of the Umpqua River.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Anna Marie Mills; his loving children, Jennifer Clay and Greg Mills (Carrie May); and his cherished grandchildren, Justice, Korben, Lily, and Zaiya.
Bob will be remembered as an honorable man-honest, trustworthy, having strong work habits and ethics, with loving devotion to his family.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 9, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church in
