Robert enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. He served as a mechanic on airplanes that carried agent orange for distribution as part of the battle plan in Vietnam. Like many veterans, Robert had health issues as a result of his service and he and Gwen praise Ken Godfrey, a military brother and friend, who helped them navigate through the veterans' paperwork to get the medical services and benefits provided for veterans.
