Robert A Montanari, 55, of Kent, OH, died Saturday, February 11, 2017, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland, OH. He was born February 14, 1961 in Kenmore, NY to Arthur Albert and Yolanda Margarite (Tornesella) Montanari. Bob was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He was loved by all for his humor, strong work ethic and fierce determination. He designed his home to accommodate his love of entertaining and enjoyment of outdoor activities with his family and friends. He was known as the "Neighborhood Dad" as he loved to play sports with the kids and was considered a big kid himself! Bob was an avid sports fan and competitive player, excelling at soccer, tennis, and racquetball. He was very proud of his children and extremely involved in their lives; coaching their soccer teams, attending all of their sporting events and music concerts. Bob was a graduate of Kent State, with a degree in Architecture. Bob and business partner Jim Haas were principals of Westwork Architectural Studio. Established in 1993, Westwork was a well respected firm that was featured in Builder Magazine. Bob bravely fought a long battle with cancer, never asking for help or sympathy. With his loving wife Tracey at his side, he lived a full life and provided well for his family. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family and friends. All who knew him will forever carry a piece of him in their hearts. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Tracey (Wax) Montanari, sons: Nathan Montanari of Kent, Joshua Montanari of Kent; daughters, Rachael Montanari of Kent; nephews and nieces, Mike (Kim) Montanari, Lauren (Ron) Webber, Collin Mackett, Kendra (Pierre) Cagniart, Ian Mackett, Drew Montanari, Claire Montanari; great nieces and nephews; Lennox, Brandon, Briana, Paul, and Christophe; brothers: Mark (Kathy) Montanari of Boulder, CO, John (Carol) Montanari of Buffalo, NY, James (Sheryl) Montanari of Amherst, NY; sisters: Michele (Charles) Mackett of Vero Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his nephews, Kyle Mackett, Thomas Cagniart. Calling hours will be held 6-8 PM Thursday, February 16 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, February 17 at St. Patrick Church with Father Richard Pentello officiating. Private Burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Western Reserve Hospice 17876 St. Clair Ave, Cleveland OH 44110.

I have beautiful memories of you as a child and of course your parents and my Auntie Ann and Uncle Al
I too am grieving the loss of my daughter,Elysa who was married to Michael Lipson. She passed away in 2016 at the age of 46 from cancer
I hope this message gets to you albeit so long overdue

We became friends with the Montanari family when we lived near them in the Twin Lakes neighborhood. Despite his struggles, Bob remained strong, determined, and was dedicated to Tracey and his children. He persevered through many years of adversity, but managed to stay upbeat and always greeted us with a smile. Bob lived for his children and will now forever live through them.

Thank you God that Bob lived. We are blessed that he was among us and blessed that he and Tracey created such wonderful children and blessed by his and their friendship. We can't understand why you take us in the time and manner in which you do God. But we can understand why and we are so very thankful that Bob was a part of our lives and that he created the lives of his children in whom he lives on.
