Robert Moore Obituary

Robert A. Moore, 71, of Manchester, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cambridge, MA on February 4, 1955, to the late Ralph and Mary (Kinsella) Moore.

Bobby graduated from Medford High School in 1973 where he was an exceptional athlete. He played in the Harry Agganis All-Star football game his senior year and he also excelled at track. In 2012 Bobby was inducted into the Medford Mustang Hall of Fame. After high school he attended and graduated from St. Thomas More Preparatory School in Montville, CT in 1974. After prep school he attended Boston College on a full football scholarship where he starred as a versatile defensive lineman for the Eagles. He was named as one of the team Tri-Captains for his senior season and was also selected to play in the Blue-Grey All-Star Game. His outstanding performance in the Blue-Grey game helped earn him an invitation to the New York Giants football camp as a non-drafted free agent. Bobby was notably the first player in the history of Boston College football to start every game from freshman through senior year.

After college Bobby entered a career in law enforcement and he was hired by the Manchester police department in October of 1978. He worked as a patrolman until he joined the detective unit in 1984. For many years he worked as an undercover narcotics detective and later achieved the rank of Sergeant. From 1994-2011 he was supervisor of the Special Investigation Unit for Drug Enforcement. He was a highly decorated police officer and received numerous awards and accolades for his hard work and dedication to his job. As successful as he was on the job, Bobby will best be remembered for the love he had for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Bobby was a devout practicing Catholic, and he lived according to his faith. He was known for his humility, humor, sharp memory, and extreme kindness. He loved spending time with family, and his hobbies included cooking, fishing, observing nature, playing the accordion, and of course watching the Three Stooges.

He is survived by his loving wife, Paula of 48 years; his daughter, Rachelle Moore Otero and husband Dan; his son, Michael Moore and partner Jessica Winslow; his adopted daughter, Amanda Quiles; his grandchildren, Hailey Moore, Antonio Otero; his brothers, Jimmy (Roxanne) Moore, Tommy (Janice) Moore, Stephen (Melissa) Moore; his sisters, Joanne (John) Fortunato, Betty Jean (Rich) Trakimas, Maureen (David) Travis, Janice Donovan and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Pius X Parish, 575 Candia Rd., Manchester at 10am. Kindly meet directly at church. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the spring.
