Bob Morris, in his own words was a "dang yankee". He was not a perfect man-no one is. That is why he recognized his need for a Savior and was led to Christ by his son Michael. Through faith, Bob became a new creation, just as it says in II Corinthians 5:17. His life in Christ shaped his later years, and he became an encourager, especially to the young people in his church, Eva Church of Christ. At church gatherings, Bob was known as "the ice man," faithfully preparing the drink table with cups and ice, and was always the last one to fix his own plate.
Bob loved adventure. He jokingly claimed he was born on a boat in Lake Michigan, and whether or not that was true, the water-and the road-were always calling his name. Afflicted with "Wander Lust," he was happiest when the wheels were rolling. If Charlotte so much as hinted at a destination, Bob made it happen. Together they focused on their bucket lists and, for the most part, marked them all off.
He loved boats, cars, radio-controlled anything to race, and trains. No matter what vehicle he was driving at the time, the affectionately called them all his "van", he always had a cup of black coffee with a straw in the cupholder. He was always ready to travel at a moment's notice. He truly enjoyed the journey as much as the destination.
Bob was known for his thumb-twiddling, his playful self-description as "old & ugly," and his lighthearted teasing of restaurant servers-whom he never failed to encourage and entertain. He never met a stranger. Though just a little stubborn, his heart was generous and full of life.
He adored his beloved Jack Russell, LadyBug. In the evenings, Bob and LadyBug could often be found sharing a cookie and yogurt together-a simple ritual that reflected their sweet life side by side.
When Bob and Charlotte married, Bob vowed he would always open Charlotte's car door and bring her coffee in bed. True to his word, he did bring her coffee in bed, except when she got up first. He even enjoyed being chauffeured by Charlotte in her little red car, affectionately dubbed "ZOOM ZOOM."
Bob Morris lived life in motion with humor and a deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of adventure, commitment and encouragement.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to a local
charity of your choice or to Eva Church of Christ in Bob Morris's name.
