Robert " Bob" John Murphy, 87, of Billings, Mt., passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, alongside his wife, MaryEllen.
Bob was born on April 11, 1938, in Waterbury, Ct. , to Michael and Anna Murphy. After graduating from Crosby high school, he worked for the local telephone company. He then joined the U. S. Navy, where he served his country with honor for 23 years. He retired as a Senior Chief Radioman.
While in the Navy, he met and married Fran Wiener, in 1959. After the Navy, he managed the Royal Fork and King's Table restaurants in Billings, Mt. He wasn't just a manager, he was a mentor, a friend, and a man people respected.
After the death of Fran, Bob was lucky enough to have a second chance at love. He met and married MaryEllen in 2000. He was a proud member of Knights of Columbus and achieved the position of Grand Knight.
Bob is survived by his wife MaryEllen; his children Jay ( Laurie) Murphy, Dan ( Pam) Murphy, John ( Jan) Murphy, Carol ( Brad ) Walker, Jon McQuillan, and Tom Freed; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister Joan Scanlon and his brother Michael ( Brenda ) Murphy and his sister in law, Kathy; along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, his sisters; Ellen Clement, Muriel Brasche, Barbara Rossi; and his brother Lawrence Murphy.
The family will hold a vigil on Thursday, November 20, at 6 PM at St. Bernard's church.
There will be a mass on Friday, November 21, at 11 AM at St. Bernard's church, with a reception to follow.
Bob will be remembered for being a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather and great grandfather. No matter how busy life got, he always made sure we knew we were loved.
