Robert W. Myre, 79, of North Providence, passed away Wednesday May 17th. He was the loving companion of Rosemary Barra.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Paul and Irene (Moreau) Myre.
Mr. Myre was a pressman for the Providence Journal, better known as "Oscar Mayer" for over 40 years, retiring in 2007.
He was active with the Cub Scouts & Boy Scouts Troop 76, and he volunteered at St. Augustine Church.
In addition to his companion, he is survived by four children, Brian Myre, Jeffery Myre and his wife Maria, Julie Larsen and her husband Eric, and Christina Barra Russillo and her fianc Gavin DeSouza; five grandchildren, Joseph Myre, John Myre, Maddie Larsen, Ava Larsen, and Joey Russillo; and a sister, Lucille Hart; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Myre.
His funeral will be 11:00 am Wednesday May 24th from the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 pm at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 23rd, 4:00 - 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Troop 76, 42 Peach Hill Avenue, North Providence, RI 02911.
