Bob is survived by his sister, Susan (Brent) Jaekel of Gibbon; niece Nicole (Jeremy) Rieke of Gibbon; great-nephews, Michael Jaekel, Spencer Rieke, Max Rieke, and Alex Rieke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Jessica Jaekel.
Robert Herb Ness was born May 18, 1943 in Toledo, Ohio to Ernest and Emma (Meyer) Ness. He graduated high school at Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, Michigan and went on to Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin. After graduation from Northwestern, he attended Officer's Candidate school from which he graduated 2nd Lieutenant. He was deployed to Vietnam where he served as a forward observer and sharpshooter. Bob was a diligent soldier and a proud veteran. In his later years, Bob was a caretaker for his parents. He enjoyed reading books, studying and researching history. Blessed be his memory.
