I knew Bob Nichols starting in 1991 when I was a member of his PhD committee at Washington University in St. Louis - as a new faculty member in the Dept of Earth & Planetary Sciences and a faculty fellow in the McDonnell Center for Space Sciences. I have known his PhD advisor Charles Hohenberg since that time and we still socialize. Bob was a good friend and is missed.

Such great memories of Bobby--My heart breaks for Coach and Gayle. Prayers for the family and will carry all of the tennis memories-I still consider him 12 years old! Smart and kind always a smile, a laugh and a great competitive wiffle ball player.

Although I didn't know your son, Gail and Bob, I send my deepest condolences to you for your sudden loss. Gail, you were a kind student counselor to me, and Bob, you got me through Math 90 and two Algebras, in spite of my fear, a monumental task. I appreciated your honesty, kindness and attention to detail, so it's no wonder your son had so many accomplishments, as well as a smile to match both of yours.

Dr Nichols was my physics professor when I returned to CU as an adult to finish that one class for my undergraduate work. He was tough but the best physics professor I´d ever had. He had high expectations and was always willing to help us out when we put in the effort. My prayers and condolences to his family.
