It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of MGySgt Robert Roy O'Bday Sr., USMC Retired, age 76, of Jacksonville NC, on September 4th, 2025. Bob was a beloved husband, father, Poppie, and friend who touched the lives of everyone he met. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Infant of Prague Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Born on October 23, 1948, in New London Connecticut, Bob was the son of the late Harriet Oliver. He graduated from Griswold High School and went on to join the United States Marine Corps in July 1967. Bob served in Vietnam and Desert storm and held the rank of MGySgt before retiring after 27 years of service to our country. Bob worked for Camp Lejeune after serving, continuing his passion for auto mechanics. Bob loved to run, work on vehicles and took pride in the appearance of his yard and home; but more than anything he loved being with his wonderful wife.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lilia V O'Bday; his children; son, Robert Jr (Cathy) and daughter, Kimberly (Michael); four cherished grandchildren, Jocylin (Curtis), Ian (Talor), Reagan, Chase and 4 great grandchildren; Gabriel, Kayleeana, Mateo and Isabella. Bob is survived by his brother Charlie (Maria), sister Kathy; many nieces, nephews and preceded in death by his brother Paul.

Bob was known for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He was greatly respected in his community and Marine Corps; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In Lieu of flowers we ask for donations to be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America at "secure.PVA.org" in memorial of MGySgt Robert R O'Bday Sr.

Family and friends are invited to share their memories and honor his legacy. Bob will forever be in our hearts.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
