O'Connor, Robert James, 67, of Smithtown, passed away January 27, 2025. Loving father of Breana Alida Antonovici (Emil), Tyler James O'Connor, Emily Rose O'Connor, Bobbi-Lynn O'Connor, Nikita Elena O'Connor, and Anna O'Connor. Adored grandfather of Sawyer Emil Antonovici and Sorina Alida Antonovici. Beloved brother of Kenny O'Connor, Kathy O'Connor, Trish O'Connor, Michael O'Connor, Johnny O'Connor, and Janie O'Connor. Predeceased by his dear parents John James O'Connor and Elena O'Connor. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Robert was a significant figure in the high school wrestling community, making lasting impressions on young athletes. He was a proud member of the Plainedge High School wrestling team, earning the State title, continuing on to coach and mentor many aspiring wrestlers, instilling discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship. His influence helped shape the lives of countless students and created a tradition of excellence in many programs. His athleticism didn't stop at wrestling, Bob was also a major league baseball player for the Cincinnati Reds. Throughout his life, he continued to prioritize his health and fitness, he also enjoyed traveling, cooking, and anything to do with food. Bob was the definition of a "foodie", he had different restaurants for each night of the week, and if he wasn't talking about food, you know he was thinking about it. Bob was a man whose passion was for classic cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a skilled mechanic and a craftsman at heart, dedicating countless hours to restoring and rebuilding these machines, bringing new life to old engines and treasured classics. He loved listening to music of all genres, especially while he was driving and working on his classic cars and motorcycles. Known for his generosity and sense of humor, Bob had a unique ability to brighten any room and leave them, with his infamous "Irish exit". His laughter was contagious, and his quick wit kept everyone on their toes. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel valued and appreciated, and his kindness knew no bounds. Family was at the core of Robert's world. He lived for his children and grandchildren, dedicating his life to their happiness and well-being. His love for them was unconditional, and he was always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of advice. To him, nothing was more important than being there for his family, no matter the circumstances. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. The family will receive visitors Friday, January 31, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Funeral Mass Saturday, February 1st, 10:30 am at St. James RC Church. Interment following at St. James RC Church.
