Robert D. Oak

Robert D. Oak of Commerce was born March 8, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Floyd Slocum and Evelyn Louise (nee: Norvell) Oak. He died November 24, 2024 at the age of 82.
Mr. Oak is the beloved father of Robin Oak deGrasse, Jon (Kellie) Oak and Randall (Jennifer) Oak. Grandfather of Robert, Olivia, Henry, Josiah, Benjamin, Hudson, William and Lilliana. Dear brother of Janice (the late John) Fisher, Lance Oak and Graham (Linda) Oak. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Oak, a beloved father, friend, and colleague. Bob, as he was known to all, enjoyed living the "lake life" in Commerce Twp. for the past 30 years. As a founding partner of Rock Tool & Machine in 1969, Bob played a pivotal role as a proud salesman in growing the company from its modest beginnings in a tiny, rented space in Detroit to a thriving 27,000 square foot operation in Plymouth.
Bob's impact was never confined to his work; his charismatic personality touched the lives of everyone he met with his kindness, support, and unwavering friendship. His connections spanned decades, with many of his closest friendships beginning in grade school and lasting a lifetime. Bob was more than just a colleague-he was a mentor and a constant source of support and encouragement for those around him.
His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught us all: the importance of hard work, honesty and and always keeping one's word, the value of true friendship, and the power of helping others in their personal journeys. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he led, one that will continue to inspire and guide us in the days to come.
Bob may no longer be with us in person, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
