Robert Neil Olsen Jr., known to many as Bobby, was born on June 26, 1955, in Union, New Jersey. He passed away on January 28, 2026, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, surrounded by love.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Sarah Korisher and Rachel Rubino, and Rachel’s husband, Billy Rubino. He was a proud grandfather to Marlayna Korisher, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his siblings: Leslie Schmid and her husband Mike Schmid; Nancy Olsen Torpey and her husband Bob Torpey; Carrie Olsen; Christian Olsen and his wife Lyra Fiset; and Steven Olsen. He is lovingly remembered by his niece Kalli Agelopolous and her husband Lee, his nephew Steven Gryzel, and many extended family members and friends.
Bobby spent his working years as an arborist with Schmide Tree Service in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, a career he truly loved and took great pride in. His deep respect for nature and hands-on work defined much of his life.
After retirement, Bobby moved to Ojo Sarco, New Mexico, where he embraced a life rooted in simplicity and passion. He spent his days exploring and hiking the land around him, gardening, and playing his guitars. Music, especially the blues was one of his greatest loves, and he found true happiness in jam sessions with friends. He also cherished the time spent with his best friend, Phil Ford, whose companionship meant so much to him.
Bobby passed peacefully, surrounded by his daughter Rachel, his brothers Chris and Steven, Chris’s wife Lyra, and many dear friends who loved him.
He will be remembered for his free spirit, his love of music and the outdoors, and the quiet, meaningful way he lived his life. His memory lives on in the songs he played, the places he wandered, and the family and friends who carry him with them.
