Robert "Bobby" Ortiz

Robert Michael Ortiz born on June the 10th, 1940 in Las Vegas, New Mexico passed away on January 8, 2022 with his wife, children, and grandchildren by his side.
Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose Ann Ortiz; daughter Diana Waverly; son Robert Ortiz Jr. (Barbara); daughter Nicole Leyba (Dr. Mario Leyba); brother: Jimmy Ortiz (Helen); sister: Judy Montoya; daughter-in-law: Venadiza Ortiz, sister-in-law Joana Nava; brother-in-law Lorenzo Sanchez. Robert has twelve grandchildren- Jesslyn Austin, Jaci Fulgenzi (Zachary), Alysse Salas (Miguel), Robert Ortiz III, Savannah, Eric, Fidel, Evita Ortiz, Isabella, Mario Jr., Selena, Nicolas, Araceli (NIko), and Angelica Leyba. Robert had five great grandchildren- Alexia, Annalysse, Amaya, Alianna, and Allian Sedillo, sister-in-law: Lorenza Ortiz and niece: Jackie Ortiz.
He was preceded in death by his son Eric Ortiz, father Fidel and mother Evita Ortiz, mother-in-law: Eleanor Marlow, his sister Margaret Sanchez, brother: Susano Ortiz, and many lifelong friends.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and a successful local businessman who ran Brown's Dairy and Creamland Dairy for 60 years. Everyone knew him to be kind, soft spoken, and never complained. He loved God, family, hunting, and fishing. He never missed a day of mass and helped strengthen the faith of those around him. The love he had for hunting and fishing took him all over from Alaska, Mexico, and British Columbia, however his eyes would light up on his favorite spots in the mountains of northern New Mexico where he knew the trails and country by heart. He enjoyed camping, boating, and telling his hunting stories with all his grandchildren. He will be forever missed by all who knew him. His faith, character, and kindness with his family and friends will hopefully help bring peace into our own lives.
Robert's mass will be held Saturday January 22nd, at 12:45 at Immaculate Conception Church. Serving as Pallbearers will be: Robert M. Ortiz III, Fidel E. Ortiz, Mario Leyba Jr., Nicolas G. Leyba, Eric M. Ortiz, James Ortiz, Tino Gallegos and Jamie Escobar. Honorary Bearers are: Lorenzo Sanchez, Andrew Ortega, Vic Stefani, Steve Gallegos and john D. Marlow. Reception will follow at Charlies Spic and Span.
