Robert “Oscar” Blaney, 94, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Muskingum County on August 2, 1931, a son of the late Chris and Clyda Blaney. Oscar worked at Greiner Dairy for 48 years as the "milk man"; was the owner and operator of Carlwick Sohio / Blaney’s Filling Station for 35 years; and then retired at the age of 84, with the US postal service. He was a longtime member of the Zanesville Eagles Lodge #302, a devoted member of Chandlersville United Methodist Church, and a proud United States Army veteran. Oscar was happiest being outside; swimming, painting and doing yard work.
Oscar is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lalia P. (Lahue) Blaney, whom he married on July 3, 1953; and by his children: Bob (Sue) Blaney, Cathy Jo (Becky) Blaney, Don (Kay) Blaney, Julie (Chris) Hutcheson, and John (Paula) Blaney. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer (Cory) Williams; Heather (Nelson) McElhaney; Lyndsey (Bret) Zorich; Stephanie (Justin) St. Sauveur; Matt Blaney; Mallory (Matt) Harper; Hailee Blaney; Kristen Hutcheson; Cullen Blaney; Kara (Layke) Fletcher; Destiny Hutcheson; and Blayz Blaney; great grandchildren, Connor, Carson, Arabella, Jakob, Kalob, Leighton, Charlotte, Jack, Adley, Kase, Stella, Jett, and Paris.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Blaney and Christy “Lefty” Blaney; his sister, Marjorie Bosch; and his daughter Teresa Johnson.
Calling hours will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Eddie Warne officiating. He will be laid to rest in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by George Selsam VFW Post #1058 and the US Army Color Guard.
