Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & CrematoryRobert Lee Owen, born on January 9, 1937, in Fruithurst, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. A hard working, God-fearing man, he was 89 years old. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Lee Owen, his mother, Lemma Fergerson Owen, and his sons, Bill Owen, Kenneth Owen, and Tony Owen, along with his daughter, Carol Cox, and several siblings.
Robert worked many years as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He was a man of deep faith, possessing a strong belief in God that guided him through several personal tragedies. He was generous to those around him, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. His warm smile and beautiful blue eyes were reflective of his caring nature, earning him the title of a true friend for life among those fortunate enough to know him. Outside of work, Robert enjoyed maintaining a pristine yard and was known for his passion for yard work. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Cox-Owen, and three daughters: Margaret Swarts of Bremen, Angela Cox of Trickum, Alabama, and Amanda and Phillip Jacobs of Woodland, Alabama. Robert was a proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, cherished by nine great-grandchildren, and admired by two great-great-grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by his sister, Claudine Nobley of Roanoke.
The family, along with their church family and Rev. Russell Shadrix, will conduct a Celebration of Life on March 15, 2026, during the 11:00 AM worship service at Eureka Baptist Church located at 668 Eureka Church Road, Carrollton, GA 30117.
