Funeral service will take place at John Wesley United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Garden in Jackson, Tennessee at a later date.
There will be a public viewing and family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 29th at the church.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory to wife; Helen Owens, his three sons; Robert Owens Jr.(Brenda), Roger Owens, Roderick Owens, his daughter; Cassandra Owens, his brother; Hiram Owen, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services have been entrusted to Wiseman Mortuary Inc.

Holding back tears as I type this message. My condolences to the family. I will always remember Dr. Owens had the ability to correct his students and at the same time make us laugh at ourselves then go and fix it. He started out as my choir director at Fayetteville State but without him knowing it became so much more he was a patient and nurturing professor. He will be missed but his spirit lives on. I can still hear him saying in his High pitch " no that's not how you do it" Dr. Owens you will be missed, but more importantly you will be remembered. Love you Doc
