Robert J. 'Jimmy' Panada, Jr.

OLEAN - Robert J. "Jimmy" Panada Jr., 77, of Olean, passed away Sunday (Sept. 21, 2025) at Olean General Hospital.

Born Oct. 10, 1947, in Olean, he was the son of Robert J. and Mary Jane Simmons Panada Sr. On Oct. 15, 1966, in Olean, he married Mary Reed, who predeceased him April 26, 2022.

After high school, Jimmy served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. He then worked for the former Penn Central, later Conrail.  After retirement he worked for the Beef 'n' Barrel Restaurant in Olean.

He enjoyed his membership at the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Olean and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, the Buffalo Bills and of NASCAR. He enjoyed tending to his yard and watching old western movies.

He is survived by two sons, Robert A. (Maureen) Panada of Hilton and Steven P. Panada of Olean; a granddaughter, Desirae Bugman of Greece; step-grandchildren, Lauren (Jonathan) Huggin of Wilmington, N.C. and Landon Cussins of Bradford, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Phoenix Bugman and Portlyn Bugman, both of Greece; two step-great-grandchildren, Cole Cussins of Bradford and Everly Huggins of Wilmington; two sisters, Noreen (Peter) Hickey of Winterville, N.C. and Darlene (Tom) Person of Rushford; four sisters in-law, Kathy Duino of Allegany, Anita Schnell of Olean, Karen (Paul) DeLong of Allegany and Helen Kay Reed of Olean; a brother-in-law, Jeff (Tammy) Reed of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Tracy Panada in 2025; his parents, Robert and Mary Jane; and his stepmother, June Panada.

The family welcomes friends to a memorial visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Private burial will be Mount View Cemetery in Olean at a later date.
