Robert "Bob" Homer Parker, born February 23, 1938, died peacefully at his mountain home surrounded by his wife and family on September 1, 2025 at the age of 87.
Bob had a passion for music and had a lifetime career with Gretsch & Baldwin. Bob and his wife Pam owned & operated "Parker Music" based in Sylva and Asheville, NC as well as in Greenville, SC. Bob was a veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a published author of "The Little Crooked Christmas Tree" as well as other stories. He loved telling stories. He enjoyed traveling gardening, fly fishing, hunting golfing, hiking, writing/composing stories, songs, poems, and storytelling . He had an adventurous spirit and taught his family to enjoy God's creation. Bob was a resilient overcomer of life's circumstances. His daily motto was "Always walk on the sunny side of the street!"
Bob is preceded in death by his father and mother Fred Robert and Beulah Faye " Boots" Parker of Asheville, NC. Brothers, Fred Parker of Asheville, NC and Harold Ford Parker of Alaska.
Bob is survived by his wife Pamella Gooch Parker and two daughters Laura and April Parker in NC. Previous marriage Moira Campbell, with 3 daughters, Carey (husband Robin) Bertch. Donna Laura (husband Jim) McKeithen, Sheenagh (husband Michael) King. Three grandchildren: Leilah (husband Jordan) Denny and great grandchildren Charlie Kemp, Avery Kemp, Ashlynn Kemp, Addaline Kemp, Micah Denny Cameron (wife Jenn) King, Great Grandchildren Parker, Ryan, Brooklyn, Mac King, Colin (wife Safia) King. Great Grandchildren Campbell and Noah King.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Appalachian Funeral Services on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 2pm. The family will have a visitation for one hour prior, beginning at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Children research Hospital/www.stjude.org or Friends of the Smokies /friendsofthesmokies.org In honor of Robert H. Parker.
