Virginia Fisher Mull passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehab, at the age of 99. She was born in Jackson County on July 15, 1926 to Charlie C. and Fannie B. Fisher.
Virginia was the wife of Edward "Ted" Mull for 61 years before his passing in 2005. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Moody.
Virginia spent most of her life in Jackson County. She worked in retail sales and owned Mull's Grocery in the Addie Community. In retirement she could often be seen working with the flowers in her yard, which she loved. She was the oldest member of Buff Creek Baptist Church.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Susan Bumgarner and her children; Carolyn Mintz (Greg Revis), her son Andy Mintz (Heather Dishman), their son, Kaden; Allyson Bumgarner, her son, Chris Bumgarner (Heather Reed) and her two daughters, Chloe and Lylah; Jason Bumgarner and his wife Alison; one niece, Kathleen Owen and two nephews, Dan and Hal Moody. Many friends, family and loved ones also survive.
Funeral services for Virginia will be held on Monday February 9th at 1:00 p.m.in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Gerald Morris and Rev. Kent Loudermilk officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Addie Cemetery.
