Robert "Bob" Mayford Perry
September 23, 1938 – January 6, 2026
Robert Mayford Perry, known to many as Bob, was born on September 23, 1938 in Hood River, Oregon and passed away on January 6, 2026 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He lived in East Tennessee most of his life.
Bob was married to the love of his life, Lula Bounds Perry for 60 wonderful years until her passing in 2020.
Bob had a deep love for traveling, especially camping, spending the last few years of his life in Tellico - a place he truly called home. He was well known in the camping community and affectionately known as the unofficial mayor of Tellico. One of his proudest moments was being the very first person to cross the New Bald River Falls Bridge in May of 2025.
He was the son of the late Laverne "Pat" Perry Johnson and the late Mayford Perry. He was also lovingly raised by his late stepfather, Ralph Johnson, the only father he knew for over 46 years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Lula Perry; sister, Peggy Perry Grelk; daughter-in-law, Laurie Smith Perry; and sons-in-law, David Sikes and Scotty Kennedy.
He is survived by his siblings, Vernon "Moon" (Quita) Perry and Theresa Johnson Hall; his children, Patti (Todd), Michael (Natchaya) and Shelia; and his grandchildren, Stephanie (Ron), Cody (Julia), Tristan, Russell, Angel, Nicole (Nate), Adrian (Willy), Ashley (Oakley), Johnny (Victoria), Pechy and Westin. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Logan, Brayden, Annsley, Rylan, Legacy, Waylon, Willy, Adalynn, Norah, Hunter, Riley, Miley, and Kaden, along with many nieces and nephews. Bob is also survived by his special friend, Bob Cornett, who shared weekly visits with him.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, stories, adventure, and connection that will live on through all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
