McGaffigan Family Funeral HomeRobert Francis “Bobby” Phinney, 78, of Orange, passed away on Sunday, November 9th, in Leominster, MA. He was married for 38 years to his beloved wife Janet (LaFountain) Phinney, who passed in 2023.
Bobby was born July 6, 1947, in Billerica, where he spent his childhood years before moving to Weare, NH, and attending Weare High School. Finding joy in life’s simple pleasures, he enjoyed activities like fishing, camping, and spending time at the beach. He particularly looked forward to family vacations at the shore in Maine, and summers spent at Hampton, Old Orchard, and Salisbury beaches.
Bobby had an endearing personality and wit, which made it easy for him to make friends and acquaintances wherever he went. He always made himself available to help anyone who needed his assistance.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Shannon (Phinney) Audet of Leominster, his son Robert Phinney of Sterling, and his grandchildren Michael, Brendon, Bridget, and John. He also leaves behind his two sisters, Donna Sherman of Lunenburg and Ginny and her husband Mark Smola of Clinton, CT, and three stepchildren, Robert Kohlstrom Jr. of Orange, Carol Kohlstrom of Baldwinville, and Kenneth Kohlstrom of Lunenburg. Bobby was preceded in death by his father Robert Phinney, mother Alice (Tintle) Hallenborg, and stepfather George Hallenborg.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and peace to those who mourn his passing.
Graveside services for Bobby will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pepperell on Friday, December 5th at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Sterling Animal Shelter in his memory.
