Kay Jackson for Allen and Kay Jackson

July 26, 2024

Being married to a BHS 49er, I had heard the name Bob Piper for years. The only time I remember meeting him was a year ago when Raymond Pelz came to Bryan & I ended up trying to find other 49ers to join him and Allen & I for lunch. Bob Piper was the only other 49er who came, and so the 49er group was those 3 men. The conversation that ensued was by far the most interesting and unique of all the of conversations I had heard at the years of monthly 49er lunches I had attended with my 49er husband Allen Jackson. I was only sorry Bob had not been in attendance at those. He was quite forthright with his school history and his views on life and seemingly comfortable and always respectful defending his views and experiences. I came away full of admiration for him and his contribution to that get together and to his contribution to Bryan. I also had more of an understanding about why he did not participate more often with that group, given his work demands and his school memories. But I found him a genuine and interesting soul. We were sorry to read of his death. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy.

The world is not a better place with out my friend Robert Piper !! Over the years he has done some amazing things both in his work and his hobby's ... In my thinking and many more of his friends would consider him a legend and was highly respected as specialest in everything he done & touched !! I will miss him greatly and when we would visit with each other from time to time over the last 10 years it was a highlite of my day just talking with him and to get his feeling about something i was doing or working on .. To his family & friend there is a big hole in my friendship list , but not forgotten not by a longshoot !!

I worked with Bob briefly at his shop. He was just a really nice guy and I'm glad to have known him. RIP Bob.
