Robert J. "Bob" Pratt, 78, a Shrewsbury resident, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Holden, to the late Rufus and Susan (Stelmokas) Pratt and raised in Rutland with the loving guidance of the Gove family and Barbara and Don French. As a long-time Shrewsbury resident, he deeply loved this community and served with proud dedication.
After attending Wachusett Regional High School, he received his GED while serving the country proudly with the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1967. In1971, he met and fell head over heels for Teresa A. Harrington. They married on the beautiful summer day of June 3, 1972, at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Worcester.
In 1973, they moved to Shrewsbury where they started their family with love, faith, and gratitude.
For 34 years, Bob worked as an Equipment Operator for the Town of Shrewsbury and retired in 2008. He was known among his colleagues for his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in a job well done. He also served as a Shrewsbury Auxiliary Police Officer for many years.
Bob was a faithful communicant of Saint Mary's Parish, where he participated in the Octoberfest Festival and Journey of The Stations of The Cross for several years. Additionally, he was a member and past Grand Knight of the Adelphi Council # 4181 Knights of Columbus of Shrewsbury.
At home, Bob had a passion for cooking. He was the master of collecting recipes and loved preparing new dishes for his family. Bob also had a lifelong love of animals, especially dogs, having adopted several throughout the years.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 53 years, Teresa A. "Terry" Pratt; his devoted children, Timothy J. Pratt and his wife, Jessy of Auburn and Megan M. Pratt and her husband Harry T. Hyams V of Framingham. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain a part of the people he held so dear.
Relatives and friends may visit with Bob's family on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. The funeral will be on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, where military honors will be rendered
