Robert Elgworth Preavtte, Jr., a devoted family man, hardworking foreman, and a source of motivation and understanding to all who knew him, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at AdventHealth Gordon. Born on April 22, 1963, in Brooklyn, NY, Robert’s life was a testament to dedication and love, leaving a lasting impression on his loved ones and community.
Robert served with pride and commitment as a foreman for Southern Heritage Construction, where his leadership and ability to inspire those around him made him an invaluable part of the team. Known for being a wonderful motivator, he had the rare gift of making complicated things clear, helping others grow and succeed. This quality was just one aspect of his kind and genuine nature.
Beyond his career, Robert was a man who loved his family deeply and cherished spending time with them. He found great joy in the outdoors, such as hunting and fishing, with a particular fondness for deep-sea fishing, activities that brought him peace and happiness and created many treasured memories.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Belinda Preavtte, and their four sons: Bobby Preavette, Chris (Stephanie) Preavtte, AJ Preavtte, and Thomas Preavtte. His family also includes loving brothers, Vester Preavtte and George McKenna, sisters Elizabeth (Jay) Gann, Rose Preavtte, Bobbie Sue Preavtte, Sabrina Gomez, and Angel Preavtte, as well as a legacy that continues through 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Elgworth Preavtte, Sr. and Florence McKenna Preavtte, brothers, Tommy Preavtte and Michael Preavtte, and granddaughter, Willow Preavtte.
The community is invited to honor and remember Robert’s remarkable life at Dalton Funeral Home, located at 620 S Glenwood Ave, Dalton, GA 30721, with visitation on March 20, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on March 21, 2026, beginning at noon.
Robert’s passing leaves a profound void, but his legacy of hard work, family devotion, and heartfelt motivation will forever remain a guiding light to those who had the privilege to know him. He was truly a great all-around man, whose spirit and love will live on in the hearts of many.
