Robert "Bobby" Edward Pritchett, 79, of Felton, DE, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024. He was born on December 14, 1944, in Greensboro, MD, to Marvin Edward Pritchett and Elizabeth Nemith Pritchett. Bobby's life was marked by his many talents and varied interests.
In his teens, Bobby worked for Sandel Packing Company in Sandtown, DE, while also assisting his father on the family farm, where he milked cows and harvested crops. His father cultivated land along Route 10 near Mahan Corner Road, including the plot that later became Mt. Olive Cemetery.
In 1964, Bobby married Rosemarie Hennessey and began working for the state highway department before embarking on a career in the plumbing industry. He later transitioned into painting, eventually founding his own company, R&R Painters, which he successfully operated for 30 years. Alongside his business ventures, Bobby continued farming and passed his knowledge on to his sons Robert J., David E., and Marvin E. Pritchett, who became invaluable in managing the farm's operations.
Tragically, his son David passed away in 1988 at the age of 22 in a car accident. Despite this loss, Bobby found joy in various outdoor activities, particularly hunting in Delaware and Colorado, as well as fishing in the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays. He also enjoyed riding his prized Harley-Davidson with his cousin David Prince to Byler's for ice cream. Known for his great sense of humor and love of storytelling, Bobby was a cherished figure among his family and friends. Bobby especially enjoyed to spend time with his grandchildren during holidays and sporadically throughout the week days.
A man of deep knowledge and understanding of his community, Bobby and Rose also loved and bred Boxers for over 20 years one of their males achieved Champion status in the AKC. They had many beautiful boxer babies spread throughout Delaware & Maryland regions. They also enjoyed playing cards with their close friends Elizabeth Tanis and John Krisinski on Sunday afternoons.
A devoted parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Dover, DE, Bobby dedicated his life to his faith following the path that lead to his Lord Jesus Christ.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife Rose Pritchett whom just 5 days prior to his death celebrated 60 years of marriage. He is also survived by his sons, Robert J. (Amy) and Marvin E. (Holly); grandchildren, Patricia (Tyler) Erickson, David T. Pritchett, Samantha Pritchett, and her fiancé Jon Levoli; and great-granddaughter, Adaline Erickson.
