He is survived by his wife, Cindy Purnell of Kankakee, IL. Six children; Jeremy (Michelle) Purnell, Sr. of Kankakee, IL, Mary (Anthony) Melvin of Kankakee, IL, Bobbie Sue (Kenny) Morrow of Kankakee, IL, James (Katrina) Gillenwater of Decatur, IL, Craig Varboncouer of Kankakee, IL, and Capri Post of Kankakee, IL. Robert is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law; Russell (Kristie) Purnell Sr. of Coolidge, AZ and sister; Roberta Salyers of St. Anne, IL. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Roger Purnell and Clifford Purnell and one grandson, Clifford Purnell.
He was a truck driver for 46 years with Cozzi, Kankakee Scrap, Hunt Trucking, and River Valley Recycling. Robert served as a camp ground host for six years for Kankakee Park District.
