Robert Putz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pomeroy Funeral Home - Lexington on Mar. 30, 2026.
LEXINGTON- Robert Lewis Putz, age 84, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026. Born on July 23, 1941, Bob lived a life defined by hard work and his devotion to his family.

A natural athlete, Bob was known in his younger years as a standout baseball and basketball player. His love for sports stayed with him throughout his life, though in later years he also found a passion for woodworking. In his woodworking, he found peace in creating pieces that would be cherished by his family for generations.

Bob dedicated many years of service to the Cotterman Company, where he was a respected colleague and friend. When he wasn't working or building, he was happiest in nature-camping, feeding the deer and birds on his property, and enjoying time around the bonfire with his loved ones.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Ruth Putz. His memory lives on through his daughters, Jennifer (Chuck) Doan, Megan (Chris) Trottier, and Sarah Putz. "Papa" will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Brandon Doan, Mackenzie Doan, Jaxon Sari, Liam Trottier, and Parker Trottier. He is also survived by his most favored children (dogs) Poppy and Lily.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick Putz and an infant brother, Donald Putz.

There will be a casual service at 11 A.M. on Saturday April 25,2026 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Lexington, with refreshments afterward until 2 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Robert's name to the Sanilac County Humane Society, honoring his kind heart and love for animals.
