Robert Ragan

Mr. Robert "Buster" Walter Ragan 85, of Albany, died Thursday.His funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Billy Hanna will officiate.A native and life long resident of Albany, Mr. Ragan was a quiet, reserved, hard working, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and a friend to all that knew him. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended the University of Georgia. The love of his life was his family, sports and especially baseball. He was a member of First Baptist of Albany. He retired from Water Gas and Light of Albany in 1999 with more than 40 years of service, and he was owner and operator of Ragan's Tax Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. and Edith Chaney Ragan, his sister Eloise Ragan White, and his brother Harold Pete Ragan.Survivors include his wife of 53 years Inez White Ragan of Albany, two daughters: Rhonda Ragan Wood and husband Ricky Myers of Albany, and Allison Ragan Salerno and husband Nick of Sarasota FL, five grandchildren: Robby and Brittany Wood of Leesburg, Alexandra, Alyssa, and Nicholas Salerno of Sarasota FL, his great-grandchild, Aidan Faircloth, his sister Betty Jean Ragan Cheatam and her husband Cary of Albany, and his special companion "Ragan".To those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Bank of Southwest GA, 2800 Phillips Dr., Albany, GA 31721.
