Robert U. Ramirez 56, of Soledad passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday January 8, 2024.
Robert was born January 31, 1967 in
Edcouch, Texas to Maria De La Luz Ramirez. He came to
Soledad, California with his family before he turned a year old.
He married at the age of 23 to his beloved wife of 33 years, Dolores Rodriguez Ramirez of Soledad. He remembered and often talked about working alongside his siblings, Angelica, Martin, and J. Manuel, his mother Maria and his grandmother Dominga in the fields as a child and then later into his adulthood. He worked for Roto Rooter in Salinas for John & Priscila Grider as a lineman/Plumber for many many years after leaving Stanley Steemer where he worked for Scott & Jennifer Varner as a Manager.
Robert had a love and a passion for his classic cars which he had worked on prior to becoming ill. He shared a liking with his wife & father in law of antiques. He liked going to antique shops and looking at all the stuff from the 40's to the 60's.
Robert was a great father to his two boys, Robert Jacob & James Louis whom he loved and adored more than anything in the world. He enjoyed taking trips with his family to Disneyland, Universal Studios and countless other places.
He was a father, husband, brother, and uncle who would go out of his way to do anything for his family and made sure that they were always ok. Robert was always a hard worker. He always made sure his family had everything that they needed and more. He went above and beyond for anyone he knew. He helped take care of his father in law, Alfredo Rodriguez Sr. when he was ill, and he did a lot of handyman work for both him and his mother in law Josefina Rodriguez throughout the years. He would say that they were not just his in laws, but he considered them like his own parents.
Robert built lasting relationships and bonds with so many people throughout his lifetime. He called some of his friends his "brothers", especially his friend Pete Cano who he spent countless hours with talking about cars and God, and talking to his friend Joey Soria whom he grew up with and shared a brotherhood.
Robert often took those he loved under his wing including his friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, his son's friends and many others. He liked making people happy however he could and sometimes acting silly to make them laugh. Helping people and giving to others always gave him great joy. He cared immensely for those he loved, and especially his wife and his family.
He loved his mother in law, Josefina's tamales every Christmas, his Aunt Carmen's flan & banana lumpia's, his sister in law, Gloria's lasagna, and all of his wife's cooking which he would often brag about to others.
Besides classic cars, Robert had a love for music, watching movies, spending time outside in the patio, having barbecues, and taking care of all the feral cats he took in, as well as his two indoor cats Tobey and Violet.
Robert is survived by his wife Dolores Rodriguez Ramirez, his two sons, Robert Jacob Ramirez & James Louis Ramirez, his Sisters Angelica Barba (Joe), Jessica Urquidez Kirk (Kevin),his brothers Martin Ramirez (Florencia), Juan Manuel Ramirez, and Robert Urquidez Jr. (Sheila).
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Maria De La Luz Ramirez Jackson & her husband Theodore Jackson, his grandmother, Dominga Cervantes and his grandfather, Federico Cervantes.
