Robert Randolph Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 26, 2025.
We are sad to announce the passing of Robert Randolph on December 11, 2025. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and community member in Vancouver for over 60 years. Throughout his life he touched the lives of many with his kindness, faithfulness and unwavering commitment to family, community and friends.
Bob was born in Pasadena, Calif., in 1937. He came of age in vibrant 1950s Los Angeles. As a young person, he excelled at sports and followed adventure. Bob enjoyed his youth in Los Angeles and remained proud to identify with Southern California his entire life. Bob attended the University of California at Santa Barbara. There he met many instructors and fellow students who shaped his adulthood. His involvement with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship had a particularly profound effect upon him. No college relationship made a larger impact than Susan Schraud, who he married in July of 1962. They remained devoted to one another over the last 63 years.
In 1963 Bob and Susan moved north to the Portland area. Eventually they relocated to Vancouver, viewing it as the right size town in which to set down roots, and raised three children. The northwest suited Bob. He loved the climate and the opportunity for outdoor adventures such as camping, mountaineering and skiing. Bob successfully summited Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. He especially loved the evergreen trees of the PNW, and in his later years deeply enjoyed simply getting in the car for drives to the mountains, the Columbia Gorge, and the Oregon coast.
After interim work with the Air Force reserve and the USPS, Bob eventually went to work for Bower Trucking, a local Allied Van Lines affiliate. He worked there for 14 years, eventually becoming V.P. of logistics. In 1977, at the age of 40, Bob pursued a new career in residential real estate sales. His personality was well matched for real estate. Bob was a very social person who loved meeting people and helping them purchase and sell homes and property. Bob remained in the top echelon of real estate sales in Clark County for over 30 years.
Bob was an active member of Columbia Presbyterian Church. He loved being a part of the choir, served as a church elder and deacon, and was heavily involved with a multi-year church building project team. Bob was well known for his generosity and desire to help others succeed. He enjoyed being a part of the local Rotary club. As years passed by and he found more time, he volunteered at Open House Ministries and Medical Teams International. He contributed to humanitarian missions around the world, digging wells, building latrines, and bringing needed services to rural communities, in Honduras, Mexico and Senegal. Bob always enjoyed traveling whether it was camping with his young family, for pleasure with Susan in later years, or traveling with the purpose of service towards others.
Bob leaves behind his beloved wife Susan; his children and their spouses, Brian and Kim Randolph, Carolyn Randolph and partner Eric Kulisch, David and Wei Yu-Randolph; grandchildren Joshua Randolph, Maegan Randolph, and Matthew Randolph and So-Hee Woo. He also leaves behind many close friends and caregivers whose lives were touched by his presence. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Katherine Randolph and his brother, James Randolph. His legacy of love, faith and dedication to service inspired those who knew him and benefitted all. His memory will remain in our hearts forever, and we believe he is once again kicking up his heels.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 1:00 p.m. at Columbia Presbyterian Church in Vancouver.
