It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Steve-Sergey Demenko Smith, who departed this life on December 25, 2025, at the age of 61. His passing was sudden and unexpected, and the shock of this loss has left his family and loved ones heartbroken beyond words.

At the age of 19, Sergey joined the army, where he served until the age of 21. During his service, he trained extensively in military theory, physical conditioning, weapons handling-including the disassembly and assembly of automatic rifles-and participated in construction projects. His time in the military helped shape his discipline, work ethic, and resilience throughout life.

Following his military service, Sergey married his beloved wife, Abigail Smith, in 1986, at the age of 21. Together they built a life centered on faith, perseverance, and family, raising seven children: Sergey, Nik, Alesya, Zhanna, David, Svetlana, and Denis.

In 1998, Sergey came to the United States with his wife and children in search of a better future. Life was not easy, but through hard work, sacrifice, and determination, he built a life devoted to providing for his family. For more than 20 years, Sergey worked as a truck driver, spending countless hours on the road to support his loved ones. Though his work often kept him away from home and caused him to miss many milestones-from birthdays to graduations-everything he did was for his children.

Sergey's life was marked by both resilience and sorrow. He endured significant health challenges, including knee and spine surgeries, and carried the deep grief of losing his son Nik in a tragic accident in 2009. Through every hardship, Sergey remained steadfast in his faith and was well known for his deep knowledge of the Bible.

Sergey will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his strong work ethic, his faith, and the sacrifices he made so his children could have a better life. His sudden passing has left an immeasurable void, but his legacy of love, perseverance, and devotion will live on through those he leaves behind.

A memorial service honoring Sergey's life will be held on

January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
