Robert Reals

Robert (Bob) W. Reals Jr. of Mohawk, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2023 at the Alpine Rehabilitation Center in Little Falls, New York. Bob was born on October 6, 1947 in Little Falls to the late Robert and Ethel (Sorrell) Reals. He was a graduate of Mohawk Central Schools. Bob then served his country for four years in the Navy where he was stationed at NAS Brunswick and NAS Sigonella, learning his trade as an aviation electrician. Upon returning home, he worked as a heat treat electrician with Remington Arms for 37 years.
He married the late Martha Miekam Reals on May 18, 1974. She gently pushed him into scouting which turned his quiet demeanor into the outgoing volunteer that was always willing to help a friend, family member, or a good cause. Scouting was important to both Bob and Martha, active even after their son had graduated and enlisted in the Navy. They enjoyed traveling and filled their retirement with cruises and trips from Alaska to Europe, as well the Caribbean. Bob also went on several trips out west with family friends to go skiing. He spent the years after his wife passed fixing things around the house and helping his daughter with tasks at her home. He also volunteered with the First Presbyterian Church preparing and delivering meals to people who were less fortunate, while also continuing to help with council-wide Scouting Events.
Robert is predeceased by his wife, Martha. He is survived by his son, Christian of Seattle, WA; daughter Sarah, son-in-law Rodney Godek and granddaughter, Merritt, of Utica, NY; sisters Linda (William "Pat") Whalen and Kathy (James) Bluett, as well as his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego Street, Ilion from 4 to 6 pm.
A memorial for Robert will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Ilion with Rev. Robert Umadi officiating. Committal to follow at the Mohawk Cemetery Annex presided over by Betsy Jay.
