Robert Redman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tabor Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Brighton on Mar. 16, 2026.
Dr. Robert Lewis Redman (February 18, 1948 – March 12, 2026)

Robert Lewis "Bob" Redman passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 78, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Bob was born on February 18, 1948, in Sterling, CO, to Donald and Margaret (Hoge) Redman. He was the oldest of four children and was raised with his three younger siblings in Fort Morgan, CO. His family moved to Littleton, Colorado, his senior year of high school and he graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1966.

As an undergraduate at Colorado State University, Bob took full advantage of college life. He enjoyed skiing and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. One night, Nancy's older brother Curtis James, who was a Sigma Chi, instructed a younger classman, Bob Redman, to go on a blind date with his younger sister to a party – to ensure that she was safe and had fun. She was a high school senior researching where to go to college. She chose to go to C.S.U. and Bob looked her up the next fall when she was a freshman. That girl was Nancy Ann James. Bob and Nancy were married a few short years later and kept the party going for 55 years.

Bob continued his education at C.S.U. by earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Bob and Nancy took an opportunity for adventure and headed to Manawa, Wisconsin, where Bob took a job as a large animal veterinarian. There, he learned the ins and outs of dairy farms, bow hunting, supper clubs and snowmobiling. In addition, he earned his small plane pilot's license.

After three years, they traded the lakes for the mountains, settling in Brighton, CO. He opened his own veterinary practice in 1983, Bridge Street Veterinary Clinic, which he ran until his retirement in 2013. While Bob was busy working and raising his family, he also spent time as an EMT with the Brighton Ambulance crew. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis, and the Denver Veterinary Medical Association.

In retirement, he loved dabbling in the financial markets and equities trading. He spent many hours training for triathlons. Bob loved all things outdoors, nature, and being active. His interests included hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, skiing, oil painting, running, biking, and winning those sprint triathlons. It gave him tremendous joy to pass on his love of these activities to his own children and grandchildren.

Bob embodied quiet strength and hard work. Bob's influence and presence were nevertheless profoundly felt, be it with a gentle hand on a shoulder, or quiet, but perfect words. He was fun loving, intelligent, kind and a gentleman.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy (James), their children Scott (Rachael) Redman, Carlsbad CA, Michael (Susan) Redman, Chicago, IL, Lindsay Redman Vernetti, Carlsbad CA, and six grandchildren, Cash & Cora Redman, Jackson & Catherine Redman, and Benjamin & Robert (Blake) Vernetti, his siblings, Scott (Robin) Redman, Spokane, WA, Donna (Daniel) Loyd, Grover, CO, and Douglas (Nanette) Redman, Parker, CO, Curtis (Joelyn) James, Robert (Janice) James and several beloved nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of Bob's life will be on Monday, March 23rd, at First Presbyterian Church, 510 S. 27th Ave. Brighton, CO 80601 at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall of the church. The family suggests donations to the Intermountain Platte Valley Foundation or American Cancer Society.
